It all started one stormy, summer night, when I was on my way to my bedroom. I
was creeping along when there was a thump in the attic. “It’s just mice.” I thought to
myself, and kept on walking. I was almost to my bedroom door when there was another
thump. Only this time it was closer, louder, and seemed like it was following me down
the hallway. I shot a glance towards my parents’ bedroom door to be sure they had not
been woken by the noise. Once I was sure my parents wouldn’t be running out of their
